Blog Exhibition 16/03/09 - 18/03/09

Exhibition Hall a.k.a. Student Corner :p

On the 16th of March till 18th of March 2009 we had our blog exhibition in the college's student corner. The participating students are Wan Nur Liyana(C.MO's World), Chai Min Siew(Bao Family), Joe Lin(Tales of Hoola), Sum Yuet Tyng(The Penguins), Kartini JR(Jello The Yellow Dude), Rachel Chu(Nininja), Ham Cheah How(U O Bean) and of course myself too. Great job everybody! ^_^ Thanks to those who visited and also thanks to the school and Mr James for organizing this! Now time for pictures! XD

This is my table(thanks for lending me the table cloth Liyana..lol ^^). As you can see I made a T-shirt, badges, mousepad, bookmarks, notebook, pencil lead, eraser, clip, mini calendar and clay models.

Don't use optical mice for this mousepad ^^;
Clay Model 1
Clay Model 2

Thats it for my display. Now pictures of classmate's displays!

(Please click on the picture to see the original size. Pictures in this page are resized so you don't need to scroll around like crazy.)

This is Liyana's C.MO's World. She put a lot of effort for this project and the lecturers agree too! She improved her character a few times until its perfect and those packaging things are not easy to do. Well done sayang! ^___^ and thanks for the marshmallows? hehe..

This is Min Siew's Baoz Family. She made a lot of nice merchandise especially the fans. Those are lots of effort put in! Nobody wants to eat these Baoz, too cute to be eaten!

This is Joe's Tales of Hoola. Cute, simple and effective character design. This project was a good lesson for me that sometimes complicated things are not good! and I'm not sure why the clay models are naked? ^_^; Nevermind, nude is cute!

Posters of Hoola and The Penguins. You all trying to kill people with the cuteness??

On the left of the table is Yuet Tyng's The Penguins. This is one of my favourites, I love the save the enviroment concept that goes with it and the cuteness that kills. Her merchandise are printed on recycle paper and it looks very nice!

On the right is Kartini's cute little Jello the Yellow Dude. She did very well for a 1st year 1st sem student and I admire her efforts to try her best even when she is not familiar with Illustrator yet because our school don't teach Illustrator until the 2nd sem. Well done! ^_^

Here we have is Rachel's cute Nininja and Cheah How's violent U O Bean.
The special thing here is the paper cutting done by Rachel. She likes paper cutting and it sure takes a lot of work! She did box templates for her character rather than a flat template for 2D artworks. She also included a sketch book(black book on the table) to share her progress of designing Nininja to other people, cool! One of her merchandise is a umbrella but I didn't manage to find the photo of it(in fact alot of photos went missing for no reason -.-;), oh well.

I like Ah How's sense of humour in this project. XD U O Bean directly translates to 'lei lou dao' in cantonese and his character is a bean that kills people! o.o *sha sha sha sha sha sha sha sha......* If he continues to develop his U O Bean character I'm sure it will be interesting. ^^ He did the badges(left of Nininja badges), CDs, bottles as the merchandise.

That's all for the participants of the exhibition. ^^ I think we all did a great job and we continued to put effort even though we know this project doesn't carry any marks or contribute to our CGPA. Most importantly is the process we went through, I'm sure all of us learnt new things and upgraded our skills. Don't forget this project is also a valuable addition to our port folio.

So give yourselves a clap! *clap* XD

New look!

Hi friendz, I've gave a major face lift for this blog and its unfortunate that I didn't manage to do it before the exhibition. ^_^; I think it looks much better than the basic black template and it gives more life to the blog, I hope you all like it!

Things I've changed :
1. New hit counter can be found on the most bottom at the widget's column.
2. New background - Previously I couldn't find a suitable background to go with the theme of Feral Friendz, and its not that I don't know how to put a background and so I left it black, haha.. ^^; Finally I decided to make a simple one with all the Friendz in Illustrator. The background is not fitting completely on bigger screens or too big on smaller screens is because everyone is not using the exact same monitor and screen resolution on their computers. I also want to avoid tiling the background. If you know how to solve this problem please teach me! ^_^
3. New banner - The FFZ family has grown from 2 to 7 and I feel they all should be in the banner. Also the old banner looks lousy and the colors don't look right anyway.. The new banner is much bigger and cleaner looking too.
4. The wrappers have their own background color now. Posts and widgets have their own boxes. Post and widget titles have background color too.
5. I made it so that everyone can post comments now even if they don't have a blogger account, but there is still moderation.
6. Blogger Nav Bar is out of sight now but it will still reappear if you hover your cursor at the top of the page.

Red XIII

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

This is the most difficult design I ever made using the Feral Friendz template. x.x This is a tribute to Red XIII from the legendary video game Final Fantasy VII. When I first play this game, it was 1997 and I was only 12 years old that time, and the game is the PC version. That time 3D cards are not common yet and the game was running slowly! It takes about 5 seconds to enter battle(the whirl animation thing before you enter battle). This is still one of my favourite RPGs because it is the very first RPG I ever played and also the first 3D game I ever played too. I also love the storyline and the sound track of the game.

I continued to play Final Fantasy VIII and the older ones for the SNES consoles but unfortunately I could not play the ones for the PS2 and the newer generations because I always get motion sickness while playing 3D games. I almost vomitted while watching my sister playing PS2 games and furthermore I did not even touch the joystick at all. Anyway my sister already take the PS2 with her to Japan and I'm just left with a NDS, lol!

Night Elf tree huggers

I used to play World of Warcraft and I have this lv70 feral druid character. I remember I had a terrible time leveling her up because I simply got no time and many commitments in real life. I also have a lv80 hunter as a main character for end-game raiding so I couldn't spend much time on this kitty. It took me almost a year to level her from lv1-70! I wonder how do people level up like 10 lv80s and still have the time??? =.= They got no life! But I got no life too. Whats the difference? They play WoW 24/7 and I do homework 24/7. :P

Our Friendz So Far and Some Thoughts

Top left to right: Leopard, Black Panther, Lion, Tiger
Bottom left to right: Cougar, Snow Leopard, Lynx

During the holidays, I've added 5 more friendz to the family. We're supposed to take each other's templates and design/customize our own but I think that plan failed very badly! So what am I gonna do? I'll just have to make them all by myself, and college must pay me back 1 week of holiday! Just kidding.. :p

LeopardBlack Panther

Our stuff will be exhibited in the college from tomorrow onwards until wednesday. Things that will exhibited are our blog and any merchandise we did for it. I managed to cough out 10 merchandise during the holidays, but it was stressful and tiring and I hope it won't happen again! Heres why: because I was in Taiwan for grandma's funeral. For 11 days, 60% is family matters, 20% is rushing projects, 20% is play/rest. Everyday is a tiring day cause we go out early in the morning and usually come back late, so I can't divide the time nicely to do my project. Also I wasn't feeling well during the stay; I had nausea from the flight/car/boat/train/101 evelator ride. The goose rice I ate made things worse and my appetite went downhill that I couldn't eat anything except for fruits. Finally I vomitted everything out before my flight back to Malaysia. x.x Also I think I put on weight and have serious water retention. :/ After coming back from KLIA I managed to rush over to Lap Soon to print my stuff before it closes! Yeah!

LionTiger

The 10 merchandise I did are: Notepad, mouse pad, clip, eraser, mechanical pencil lead, badges, t-shirt, calendar, bookmarks and clay models. All of them have lousy designs and layouts so don't expect too much. -.- I e-mailed the t-shirt and badge files to my dad while I was in Taiwan and he helped me to bring them to Pasar Seni to make them. There are some printing errors on the shirt and badges and I'm not sure why and what happened, but still thank you so much dad! Muaks!!

CougarSnow Leopard

I heard that this project don't carry any marks. So was all these trouble worth it? To me eventhough I felt very dissapointed with my works but it was a good chance to improve one self. I have to say this was a great experience and I must admit that I've learn a lot a lot of new things. Furthermore all of these are a few more new additions to my port folio. But next time I hope the school won't arrange breaks+projects together. Breaks are meant for resting and destressing, please. :( Still regardless of that, I think this is all worth it..and I still need rest...zzzz..
